Slow Adding new products

We are having some severe performance issues with our site. The more

and more we add products and attributes to our site we exprience

longer and longer wait times when we add a new product.

 

The problem is that once we click on the preview button on the ' new

product ' page the wait time has gotten upto 17-18 minutes now for

each product. And some times the wait is so long that the admin

auto-logs us out of the site. So 50% of the time and go throught the

methods of adding a new product and i wait 17 minutes only to be

redirected to the login page.

 

I was told by my host that the problems is because we have nearly 2000 attributes but we need all of the attribute that we have. The site runs perfectly and smoothly in every aspect expet when we are adding a new product or modifying an existing product. We are in despret need to add more products is there any way that we can fix this problem or is there another way to add products?

i think your host is trying to blow smoke up . . and wanting you to get a dedicated server. if it were me, i would change to a host who knows what they are doing.

2000 attributes is not that many, i have sites with up to 15000 attributes and they are not slow. may take a bit to modify the attributes, cuz there are so many but not like what you are talking about.

 

what are you using for adding the attributes?

Could you recommend a better host? Cause i am sick and tired of waiting 1-2 weeks for them to respond to any attempt i make to contact them.

 

Adding the attributes is never a problem for me i just use the basic included admin functions of oscommerce to do so. It is when i add prodcuts that it takes nearly 20 mintues ever time.

 

If i change hosts well they be able to duplicate my site?

has anybody had any good luck with any hosts? if you have any recommendations please PM me and let me know. I have really got to find a solution to this problem and i think that perhaps the only way i am gonna do that is to move hosts.
