What do i need to start!!

Hi there,faithfull users.

I am new to oscommerce,and i would like to use it with my simple machines forum.

I would like to add a shop to it,and i have done a lot of research,but nothing has come across to me better than oscommerce,i have had a look in here,and i would like to know how to start.

 

What to download.

I have a apache server,and i would apperciate if someone kind could tell me where to start. :'(

Go to the main osCommerce webiste (www.oscommerce.com) and download the zip file of osCommerceMS2.2. Unzip it on your local computer. Take te folder called 'catalog' and place that somewhere easily accessible.

 

If you want to install osCommerce in a folder on your existing website then just upload the whole of the catalog folder to your websites root directory. If you want to install osCommerce in the root directory then take the contents of the catalog folder (without the folder) and upload all these files and folders into your root directory.

 

Then you need to go to your web hosting control panel, find where it allows you to set up a new database, and set up a database (just a blank database) for use with osCommerce.

 

Once you've done those things, input into your browser address bar http://yourdomain.com/catalog/install, and start the install procedure.

 

Before doing this you may also want to go to the Knowledge Base (link at top of this page) and read up thoroughly on the install procedure and requirements.
