If you go to www.tackandtackle.co.uk and see in the left column you will see the text in capitals *PRODUCTS* Now I want to change that to Equestrian and then have the equestrian link below it THEN below that have some text saying "Fishing" and under that my fishing categories.

How do i change the "PRODUCTS" text in my left column and add another one for my fishing stuff please.

Thankyou.

To help you with working with osCommerce, download and install a free text editor called TextPad. This has a 'Find In Files' feature, so you can point it to a local copy of the osCommerce 'catalog' folder and ask it to find all occurences of a particular word or sentence. Once it's done that you can right click and select 'open all' and then open the files one by one and edit all instances of any text, sentences etc. you want to alter. Then, upload the changed files to your server.

Thanks but ive tried that, the word *PRODUCTS* appears in quite a few places so i was there for ages and not found it. Surely isnt it on a certain page or something please.

Oh! No wonder I couldn't find that exact heading on a search of osCommerce. I should have looked at your site first!

Unless I am wrong, in which case I apologise now - your site is not an osCommerce website. It appears to be a phpNuke website with an osCommerce plug-in - and that is not supported from this site - it is supported from the phpNuke site.

Hi and thanks for looking. No its a genuine oscommerce site as far as im aware, ive had many problems ive posted about on here and each time ive sorted it thanks to people on here and its been fixed with the usual way of doing it as if it was an oscommerce site.

Any ideas thanks.

The problem is that phpNuke is a template driven site, and all of the file pathways in it are different to osCommerce (and I'm as sure as I can be that this is phpNuke with an osCommerce plug-in). You'd only have to compare an osCommerce control panel with a phpNuke control panel to see what I mean. If your site is phpNuke based then you can alter the word you want within their admin section, by locating the module and its description.

Yes, taken another look at your site, and it's definitely phpNuke.

Do I add a title in the english.php or left column.php please. Ive downloaded a few pages and had a play around but im still non the wiser.

Its stopping me working on the site as i need to change this before addng new categories, i need some text saying Equestrian then the equestrian categories i add then some text saying Fishing and whateve categories for fishing I add. Ive been playing on this fo 3 hours and have searched all forums but stiill ive not resolved this.

Ok so this is more complicated then it looks isnt it? At the moment you can only have 1 text title above the ctegories cant you and you cant add a second text title below the equstrian categories?

This is not a PHPNuke site. It's standard osCommerce with a nicer theme, created by me.

Mark, I don't understand what it is that you are trying to do. I don't see the word "products" in your left column. If you want to add more text underneath "equestrian", then simply amend the relevant define (which is probably located in english.php).

Thank Burt, I wa sure it was a standard oscommerce site, hopefully that will change things.

Burt the products word in the column has now been changed so it says Equestrian now, then under thaht i will have my top level equestrian categories, what im trying to do now is add another text saying "Fishing" under the equestrian categories so i cna then have my top level fishing categories. So it goes like this:

Equestrian (standard text)

categories

categories

categories

SPACE HERE

Fishing (standard text)

categories

categories

categories

The categories are just the standard top level categories i add in the admin. So basically all im doing is seperating my equestrian and fishing top level categories with a text title.

Not possible to do with the standard osCommerce code for categories.php. You will need to find a contribution (I believe there is one called css categories). This will enable you to style the categories box to whatever you want, with a lot of trial and error.

There is another one that I have just remembered which lays out the category structure so that it is all open. See http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=122951&hl= (which includes a screenshot). That might also do close to what you want with some trial and error.
