ChromeCrow Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 ok, im stuck i uploaded the entire catalog file, as it said to do, since i am sharing the host with another web program ( cgi) i made it this far Database Import A test connection made to the database was successful. Please continue the installation process to execute the database import procedure. It is important this procedure is not interrupted, otherwise the database may end up corrupt. The file to import must be located and named at: /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/install/oscommerce.sql hit continue, and i get this error. SQL file does not exist: /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/install/oscommerce.sql so, since it was in the catalog file, i uploaded the install file to the base httpdocs file, and it still doesnt work. what do i do to fix this error and continue with the install?
♥Vger Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 osCommerce imports the data from oscommerce.sql into an existing (blank) database. You first have to set up that blank database. Go to your web hosting control panel, look for the sql link/s and find the one that says 'create database' and set up a new database. You should also find a link to set up or change your mysql password. You will need to do this to set up a mysql password if you have not already done so. Once these things are done you should not have the problem you describe. If you read the Knowledge Base article on installing osCommerce it tells you all this. Vger
ChromeCrow Posted December 6, 2004 Author Posted December 6, 2004 I had made the database... and i had got right past the part of the web installation that asked for database address, database name, username, and password. and it said it had successfully connected " A test connection made to the database was successful" after this it tells me that "The file to import must be located and named at: /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/install/oscommerce.sql" and i hit continue...... "The following error has occurred: SQL file does not exist: /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/install/oscommerce.sql" like i said i tried it as uploaded, which was in a file named catalog since i have cgi script running also... so i wasnt able to continue, i tried uploading the file "install and oscommerce.php" to my base file, which is httpdocs. this still gave the same error. i know this HAS to be simple. i have 2 webhost accounts linked together to make my website. i had tried the oscomerce on an account that has a cgi personal ad script on it. after i couldnt get the OS to work, i decided to look for an add on for the other web account, which runs a phpnuke site. i found oscnukelite add on for the phpnuke site. i installed it as the read me had said..... and i get the EXACT same error, in the exact same place on both the osCommerce & the oscnukelite. BTW i had read searched not only the knowledge database here, but spent all day ( and i mean ALL DAY) yesterday on google for an answer before i posted.
