Guest Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Hello, First, let me say that I am a novice with PHP and setting up my first ecommerce site with Netfirms using OsCommerce. I need to know if I can set up discount/coupon codes that buyers can enter during the checkout process for the disounts. If OsCommerce does not have this ability, is there a scipt that I can use to add it in? Another fuction I would like to have is a Gift Certificate script. Any suggestions would be great! Thank you! Mark

Guest Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Get the CCGV contribution ant that will do it for you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks, but as I said, I am a novice at this...can you please tell me what CCGV is and where I can get it? Is this something that is relatively easy to set up? Thanks! Mark
♥Vger Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 CCGV is available from the 'Contributions' section (link at the top of this page). As long as you are happy with copying and pasting some code, uploading some completely new files, can connect to phpMyAdmin (from your web hosting control panel) and import some new tables from a file provided by the contribution, and just take your time to do things (be meticulous, don't hurry)., then you should be okay. The main thing is to have a basic knowledge of how the internet works, including some basic html, know how to connect via FTP, and upload and download files using the same, and edit files in a plain text editor (Notepad) - then you don't need to be a php guru. Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks everyone. I downloaded it and looked it over and it is exactly what I needed. Unfortunately, I have already spent many hours building my ecommerce site so I can't just do a clean install. Looks like i am gonna be spending a lot of time getting this up and running. If i understand everything correctly, files that are marked as NEW won't over-write existing files and I can go ahead and upload those - PLEASE let me know if I am wrong about this! Those that say EDIT or MOVE are the files that I will have to make changes to - correct???? I will wait for these answers before I start working on it. Thanks again for your help!!
♥Vger Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Yes, files marked 'NEW' are new and don't overwrite existing files. Other files which need to be edited you should make a backup copy of first (even if they have already been altered), as you will at least be able to revert to status quo if things don't work out. Guest Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 Hey guys, i have a question about this add-on... Is it possible to create a coupon code without creating a discount? Here is what I would like to accomplish: I would like to hand out flyers at my son's pre-school for my ecommerce site. I want to create an incentive for the parents to buy my products by letting them enter a code and in turn I will donate a portion of the sale to the pre-school. So, there will be no discount, but I will have a record that this person had this flyer, and entered the code so that I would make the donation. Can I do this with this module? Thanks a bunch! Mark
