justmake Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 I have downloaded this contribution but have no idea how to do step two, i dont understand the diff thing or MS2 thing, and the zip file the contrib came in has alot of files with the same name. Please help, i am really new at this Here are the instructions: Installation ------------ 1) run the .sql file in the folder "Sql" of this file to apply SQL changes to your database. 2) apply the "diff" patch or use "MS2 patched files" of this file, and copy "New files" in you catalog folder. Note: files in the folder "MS2 patched files/catalog" of this file are the result of the application of the diff patch on a "clean" 2.2 MS2. Note: we made this contribution by changing only english language files, if you want to create your language file, view changes made in Changed Language Files (see below).

Just take it 1 file at a time (back it up first) . Treasurer MFC

♥Vger Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 What you are supposed to do is not to post the same topic in two forums - it is a waste of time for those who have tried to help you out. Vger

♥Vger Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 1) run the .sql file in the folder "Sql" of this file to apply SQL changes to your database. You've already done this, so that's out of the way. 2) apply the "diff" patch or use "MS2 patched files" of this file, and copy "New files" in you catalog folder. I haven't used this Contribution (I've installed CCGV instead), but what this is calling upon you to do is (where appropriate) to add certain lines to existing files, and to overwrite some files with new versions. When you say there is more than one file of the same name you are correct - but they are in different folders. Follow the folder structure and you should be okay. Vger

Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is CCGV better or even the same, coz if i got that one than you could easily tell me how to install it yeah?
♥Vger Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 CCGV (Credit Coupons & Gift Vouchers) allows you to sell Gift Vouchers and to set up discounts, individually or by group. It is a long installation process, and has to be followed exactly (like all contributions). I would advise anyone who has only just started using osCommerce not to try installing contributions until they have a good basic understanding of osCommerce, its structure, and how things work in osCommerce. Regarding the Contribution you are trying to install - just follow the procedures set out and you should be okay. If you don't know how to follow those procedures then, sorry, but maybe you shouldn't be trying to attempt this just yet. Vger

Thanks heaps Luke <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have installed this and currently am trying to develop a generic "friendly prices" module which will affect it. Having said that, back up your stuff, give it a serious effort and if you then get into trouble , I am still here to assist. Treasurer MFC

NEAR positive is not even close to being in the ficinity of being ready for building an OSC site. You have to be mentally prepared to do away with all the perks live has to offer for some time.
