Product Images in Sub-Folders

I hope I'm just being stupid, and this will be an easy answer for you all. :-" In the 'sample' database that installs with the package, all the product images are in nice sub-folders in the images folder. When I add products, the product image is getting uploaded to the main images folder. I tried to do it by ftp the image to the subfolder and then editing the Product Image info in the admin area by manually typing in the relative path to the image. Still, it tries to upload a pic.

What am I doing wrong??? :P

Thank you so much for pointing that out to me. I tried a number of searches last night and came up empty. So for the time being I was just going into the products table with phpMyAdmin and editing them manually!! What a drag for a large shop. Thanks again - you saved my a whole lot of time. :D

Well I seem to be unable to follow even the most simple of processes, because I can't get this to work. It still uploads a file (file size of 0 bytes) in the main images folder. I don't know if I'm unable to properly duplicate the entire file path - but it would seem from the Tips and Tricks post that we just need to be concerned with the osCommerce root folder (catalog) and up.

This shop is located on a sub-domain from my main site, and it's root dir is a subfolder off the main htdocs dir.

Please help !@! This shop has ALL the other features I'm looking for, unlike CubeCart and cpCommerce, which were cool but not quite as complete.

i have the same problem,  how do i use image subfolders????

as far as I know, the only possible quick fix is to add the directory path (below images) to the images filename in the database.

So when you add an image to a product, include the last path in the filename.

Sadly this is true. I had this problem myself. If you have subdirectories, OSCommerce drops them all and just remembers the filename. You have to go into the database (in phpMyAdmin or somesuch) and add the directory names again.

The other alternative is to use the almighty Easy Populate to upload your catalogue of products as this goes straight to the database, so remembering the directory structure.

If you only have a few products of course, this may be cracking a nut with a sledgehammer!

Hope this is helpful.

Are you sure you did everything right? I used this tip/trick and it works just fine.

when adding a new product make sure you put "subfolder/" - it needs to have the slash after you write the subfolder name. Also it is case sensitive, and must be writeable.
