I wish osCommerce to have a filter features. To me it's a key feature.

Not something like manufacturer filter that to me seems more a search feature than a filter. I mean something that really hide some products from the whole shop.

 

Sample of the shop:

 

Category A --> (3)

- Product 1, compatible with yellow

- Product 2, compatible with blue

- Product 3, compatible with red

Category B --> (4)

- Product 4, compatible with green

- Product 5, compatible with blue & yellow

- Product 6, compatible with all colors

- Product 7, compatible with purple

 

Here how should the shop look like after an user apply the filter on "yellow":

 

Category A --> (1)

- Product 1, compatible with yellow

Category B --> (2)

- Product 5, compatible with blue & yellow

- Product 6, compatible with all colors

Now, THAT sounds like a sensible addition!

 

Actually, a bit like having different 'customer groups'. The idea is really great so I feel this might be worth to be pondered about a little... and not just restricted to articles.

 

Like, one could have a table of 'right groups', customers could belong to more than one, articles, categories and maybe even boxes or pages could belong to one or more of these 'right groups'.

 

I wonder if MS2 or any of the ones to come are 'modularized' enough to make such an approach feasible?

 

This could even be drilled down to kind of 'entities', like a product iteself would belong to groups 'yellow and red' but it's price would show as none to group 'blue', without tax to 'yellow' and including tax to 'red' members. Or whatever. Perspectives are endless...

 

Try to make this a suggestion to the team, I feel it might be worth onsidering (and waiting for it to be included in the core).
