404's worked 3 days ago, doesn't work now

Own an SSL certificate

ssl set to true in both configure.php files

problems:

When a customer clicks to check out, they get a 404

When a return customer signs in, they get a 404. Click back button on the browser, login again and all is well. It's NOT an issue of incorrectly typing password.

Test account:

email address: [email protected]

password: 123456

 

Everything was fine a few days ago...all of a sudden it isn't.

Losing sales...losing my mind...

The problem went away just as soon as it popped up. Probably a hosting issue: not sure, and they probably wouldn't admit it anyway..
