Guest
Bill, No. The only difference on the download page is that the Windows version is zipped and the Unix version is tarred. ed
♥Vger
You can download the zip version anyway, unzip it on your computer, and then upload the files from there. Most people have used zip files at one time or another, and probably have winzip on their computer. Untarring a file is different, and unless you have certain versions of winzip (which will untar a file) you'll have to download another programme to extract the files. biohazardbill
Only reason I ask is because i see references to an .htaccess file and I don't have on and am on a Unix/Linux server...
♥Vger
.htaccess files are hidden from normal view. If you FTP to your site, then type -la into the blank box beneath MkDir, navigate out of that directory and then re-enter it then if there is a .htaccess file there it will be revealed. If there is a .htaccess file in the directory you want to install osCommerce in, then download it, then delete the one on the server, install osCommerce, and then overwrite the osCommerce .htaccess file with the original one you downloaded. The osCommerce .htaccess is only a dummy one anyway. Vger
Guest
When you look at the directory, are you listing with -al? Dot (.) files are only displayed on Unix if you list with argument -a for all. -l is long, more detail. ed
