mom4x
Any of you ever suspect someone may be trying to copy your store? I have noticed for many weeks via the tools section or "who's online"... that someone is adding then deleting different items to their cart but not a registered user. Never obviously purchasing though but on all the time. Anyone have a suggestion on how to avoid a possible person from copying my site? :(

Guest
Karen, They are indexing your site to add it to the search engine database. You can look for a contribution called robots.txt Sample file. Use it and update it, adding files like shopping_cart.php to it so the bots don't follow those links. ed

I created a network rule and blocked them from my site.
Guest
B, if the bots don't index your site, you won't be in the search engine databases. This will limit the ability for people to find your site which may have a direct correlation with sales. ed

mom4x
thanks everyone... I guess I was a little confused because items were being added to a shopping cart... sometimes numerous items and other times just a few... always the same IP address though. Nice to hear it's probably just bots. have a good day :D
