Need a template to suit what we sell

Hi All

I can't find a template that looks suitable to change and add our stuff to replace our current site

We get a lot of visitors now and sell a bit, but i'm not happy with the layout, it doesn't look very proffessional to me. I'm 100% sure we would sell more, from the 3000+ unique visitors/month :D were only selling maybe 2 items a day :( . Our prices are better than most aswell.

The other problem i have is integrating the customer/product side of the database :'( to a new template!!

Any of you designers or fellow oscommers out there know of a template suitable for my needs, or one your selling already that can be altered to suit?

Any help or advice on which way to go? is greatly appreciated.

TIA

Julian

ps:We sell snooker tables, pool tables, air hockey, table football, trampolines, battery cars, pedal cars and bouncy castles. A wide range of games and leisure stuff.

2 sales per day (say 60 per month) from 1000 uniques is a pretty good sales ratio.  6% sales ratio - most sites would be very happy with that!

Hi Gary

Thanks for the reply, its 3000+ uniques/month not 1000 thats about 2% (i think).

100+/day & 2 sales/day.

I would expect a better return than 2%, what do ya think?

Where on earth did I get 1000 from?  More coffee needed.

2% is still not too shabby.  Is it worth spending money in order to up that - only you can decide.

Have a search on Google, there's many template sellers, as well as the corporate sponsor: http://www.oscommerce.com/about/sponsors

I've had a look at pretty much every oscom template i can find, i just can't see our products on most of them.

I have no idea really what sort of percentage of return to expect and/or how many visitors. 2% doesn't sound a lot though, and i'm going more of this month which is probably one of our busiest times.

i think just by changing your stylesheet colors will improve things, i went ther and it is way too bright for my liking, would mellow the background and change the aqua (i think) to some other mellow color.

Below your 'If you are a new customer, please take a look around' text, add this

"Huge savings on snooker tables, pool tables, table football, air hockey, childrens pedal cars, battery cars, toys and games, trampolines &amp bouncy castles. Its all in here, incl free uk delivery"

That's your 'description' meta tag text but doesn't appear anywhere on the page.

Your w3c css validation link is not valid, as it does not contain the link to your stylesheet. Also, you are calling the image from w3c, and their servers get very busy, so load the image from your 'images' folder.

Center this text, because at the moment it looks sloppy. The text 'Scotland Group, wraps underneath and appears on the far left.

"WORLDPAY Guaranteed Secure on-line payments. Part of the Royal Bank Of Scotland Group "

Personally, I would concentrate on optimising your site for search engines, and remember that a good conversion rate (click through to sales) is 0.5%. What you need is more visitors and not a different website.

However, if you do want a totally different website, and you have a working knowledge of html, then you can set up your own basic template for new pages - it's not hard to do.

Thanks for the replies, a bit happier now that the site has not been completely slated, maybe i'm just sick of looking at it.

I'll make a few changes to the colours etc and see what happens.

Unfortunately i'm not up on HTML, i wish i was.

Thanks again
