Subscription based cart??!!

Hi there,

Sorry if this has been answered before but I have looked all through these forums using the search but couldn't really find what I needed.

What I would like to know is, is it possible to have an OSCommerce site that has downloadable items (mp3 files, PDF documents etc) which would allow people to pay a one off fee (actually a recurring monthly / yearly payment) and when that has been paid they are then allowed to login whenever they like and download those items from any product for free as many times as they like? If they aren't logged in then they can see all of the products and maybe a couple of links for maybe a preview mp3 file and one other file?

Basically if they were not logged in then they would get all the product descriptions and a couple of links to preview / download items but when they have paid the recurring fee and are subscribed to the cart then they can log in and see many more options for downloads and download them all straight away?

If anyone could lend a hand in this then I would be extremely greatful.

Also is there any kind of code that says "If a person is logged in - show this page content instead of this" and if so how would I find documentation on this kind of code and others?

I will be using the Simple Template System on the site if that helps at all.

Thanks for any help regarding this.

Regards,

You might want to look at the following contribution. I have not used it so I have no idea how well it works but it may be worth testing. Membership/Subscriptions

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

Hi Richard,

Thanks for that. I had already looked into that but wasn't too sure as to exactly what it does. Will do some more research methinks!!

In the meantime if anyone else has any ideas that may help then I would be eternally greatful.

You might checkout the support thread if there is one and see if there is any more info there. What I would do is test it on a clean install of osC and see exactly what it does and how well it works before I would even think about adding it to a live store. I usually do the following when adding a contribution to a live store.

1. read through the support thread and check for problems

2. install on a clean copy of osC

3. install on a test copy of the live store (to make sure that it works with existing contributions)

4. If #3 goes well transfer to live store.
