USPS module question(s)

I cannot get my USPS shipping module to work. I chose the "shipping assistant" selection as an alternative to web tools. I'm now wondering if maybe that won't work with OSCommerce, and if I need to do the web tools thing instead? There is no way that I can load the web tools thing, I am not a programmer, and do not know anything about PHP, Mysql, or data base queries. In such a case, if the assistant won't work, and I can't install the other, what does a person like me do to get this going? My host says he will install it for me, but he has never done it before, and he charges 25 bucks an hour. With no clue as to how many hours it will take him to do it, I'm not sure I can afford it, I have limited available funds at the moment.

 

If the shipping assistant DOES work for us, any other suggestions? I am on a production server, and have production selected, I have my username and passwords properly listed. I am set up with my zip code, and USA as country of origin. Tare weight is off, the large package thing is off. I have weights listed with my (only 2 test) products. In the USPS thing, it says Zones, and my choices are None or Texas (Where my store is located) ... it says NONE there, should it say Texas?

 

The error message I get is something like Unable to calculate shipping, contact owner, and the process will not go further.

 

I'm just at a loss how to get this going, any help for a lost and confused newbie would be vastly appreciated.
