Problem With Front Page

I have OScommerce fully up and runnign on my test site.

 

However, when I attempt to change the front page text in /includes/languages/english, I lose the entire front page. In other words, nothing loads at all.

 

define('TEXT_MAIN', 'This is a default setup of the osCommerce project...');

 

Even if I just remove the word "this", the site does not load.

 

I have been searching the forums but no luck finding anyone with same issue.

what are you using to edit the file? if you are using the file manager via your cpanel or in the oscommerce admin area, dont. download the file and edit with wordpad, even better download a phpeditor. enough of them out there, by doing a search.

A good free php editor is Context. You can get it here at Contexthttp://www.context.cx/

 

It does highlighting for many different programming languages. I think its a really good tool for working with OSC's php files
