christymon Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with this? We have put an OSCommerce site together for one of our clients and every now and then some customers report a problem that they cannot log-in to the site. This is after they have registered with the site, and they're password is not accepted. We have spoken to technical support at our ISP about this, who know OScommerce well and they have said that it's either customers not having the latest browser or not having cookies enabled. But the most recent reported error was a customer using the latest version of Internet Explorer on a PC with cookies enabled, so it doesn't tally up. We're banging our heads against a brick wall with this so any help what-so-ever would be greatly appreciated. We have tested the site in full on many browsers and on pc and macs and we cannot recreate the error at all. So we have told our client that some of these problems are caused by incompatible browsers. Has anyone else experienced anything like this or have a suggestion as to why it's happening?
Guest Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 try turning off some of the logging settings in the admin area, as well as check ip in the sessions area. are any of these users perhaps on AOL?
christymon Posted November 24, 2004 Author Posted November 24, 2004 Thanks for the reply. Not sure if they're on AOL or not. I have asked the client to find out though. Have you had this sort of problem then?
christymon Posted November 24, 2004 Author Posted November 24, 2004 Sounds like it could be just AOL then, given the small number of complaints. Although we've got "check IP address" in sessions set to false already. What is it in logging that need to be changed?
Guest Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 i would set most to false, and slowly go from there. if you have aol installed on a computer try the site from there and make adjustments. is why i have aol, different browsers, etc . .
christymon Posted November 24, 2004 Author Posted November 24, 2004 Cheers Mibble. i'll give it a go then, although we are loath to install AOL, looks like we'll have to! Hopefully it is only AOL users that will have any problem! Regards, Chris.
