How-to set up configure.php

Recommended Posts

Anothing one of these problems. I searched but I guess I'm looking for someone to show me how to set up the configure.php correctly.

I uploaded the contents of the file catalog to the public_html folder on the server. This is a shared web host with a couple other sites.

website= www.meandmymachine.com

server=theprimehost.com

db name= myandmy

db user= dana

This is the error:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: '[email protected]' (Using password: YES) in /home/dana/public_html/includes/functions/database.php on line 19

Unable to connect to database server!

This is the configure.php file

The database should be myandmy. Thats the name of it on the webserver.

The site is done. I made the site locally on my mac. I am trying to transfer the files to the server. This is what is causing all the problems. I'm guessing it has to do with configure.php located in the includes folder.

website= www.meandmymachine.com

server=theprimehost.com

db name= myandmy

db user= dana

- snip -

// define our database connection

define('DB_SERVER', 'www.meandmymachine.com'); // eg, localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

Check your server setting, here. Check with info provided by your webspace provider. Often for mySQL databases on shared servers, this information is left as "localhost". Sometimes it can be different though. Worth checking.

define('DB_SERVER_USERNAME', '');

Should not be empty. Try dana (the db user provided above).

define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', '');

Should also not be empty. If you have not set a password for the db, DO SO NOW via your the admin control panel provided by your webspace provider. Then put that password in here.

Good luck!

Funny seems like all of my uploading problems have been with phpmyadmin. Not because it a bad program but because of user error. (nice way of saying I'm an idiot)

Main problem here was that I didn't add the user to the database. I created the user and the db but didn't combine them. I then played around with the configure.php till everything seems to work. I could tell I had a problem by readering the address bar. If I have the wrong entry the address bar would read something like: www.meandmymachine.com/www.meandmymachine.com

Pretty obvious from there. Thanks to everyone!!!! On to the next thing.
