This is my first store so please excuse the newbie question. I have gotten the hang of how the store seems to operate, have entered a catolog of 120 items no problems...but I can't seem to see where I alter the text that appears on the site by default... I refer to the "What's new here" section of the index page

Have you had a look in the knowledge base?

 

Also, have a look in catalog/includes/languages/english.php and catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php - if you are using English.
