Hi there folks,

I wanted share that I have an oscommerce store (I am utilizing the default theme / skin that comes with the store). My store has been running for around 2 years now. I have just found out, that MANY customers get confused on the checkout process - Especially if you use the "Purchase Without Account" Contrib.

The reason is, some users (My Average:1 out of 13) actually think they are done with the checkout process when they see the confirmation page!!! They do not realize there is one more simple step to click "Confirm" and the order ir processed.

I e-mailed them, and they have notified me, that the confirmation page, seemed like a confirmation invoicee page and that their order has actually been processed (then they just closed the window... and I got nothing..)

Since I am just a script kiddie and a happy user of OsC I just helped myself by adding an image stating "Wait! Your order has not been processed yet, please confrim the information you have submitted and click confirm to complete your order."

Yup, nad by default, the customer has to give their credit card numbers *before* they actually see what the total is, al together.

The current checkout really doens't make much sense.

NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit.

If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.

Neil,

Sounds like a great post to put in the Tips and Tricks forum.

Huh! I never noticed that while setting up my shop, but you're right - and I know I would be pretty reluctant as a customer to hand over my credit card number before actually seeing a total. Is there any fix to this, a way of viewing the total screen first?

I think for wizardsandwars it should be the Uruk-Hai theme from LOTR:Fellowship of the Ring. The bit where they're running to track the Fellowship on the Anduin River.

It seems that working on the checkout process was on the workboard for MS3...is it in the latest CVS? I'm too lazy to go check myself, but it might be worth looking into.

My site is only 2 1/2 months old, but I have been noticing the same thing. Customers are confused when they get to that page. Is there someway to add....

"Please scroll down to click Confirm button at bottom of page to complete your order" (Or something like that)

If there is a way, it might help eliminate the problem.

Thanks,

Sylvia

sounds of rattling, rustling and rummaging eminate from the far side of the room - interspersed with a few unrepeatable words and the odd 'now where is it?'

LOL

I'm looking! I'm looking!

Patience, Grasshopper. The candle that fears the flame cannot show the way to enlightenment (or somesuch). (That's the Zen equivalent of "Burn baby burn!!)

Wouldn't that be "the far side of the pond" ?
