Sending discount in email

I have searched for this, but really haven't found an answer.

 

I have a weekly newsletter into which I'd like to embed links that automatically activate a discount. For example, if I have set up a discount that is 10% off $100 orders, I'd like to have that discount automatically applied if they click on the link from the email.

 

I tried sending myself an email from the GV module, but it just sends the coupon code and a generic link to the website.

 

Is there a way to do what I'm trying to do?
