backup directory not found/ not writeable

Ok, here is the deal.

 

I have oscommerce through my webhost, ixwebhosting.com

I use their FTP manager "webshell" to edit the files of oscommerce.

I was able to create a folder in admin called backup, but now it says it's not writeable and there is no way to change folder access, only files.

 

Is there any other way to do this?

I contacted my webhost and it was a stupid overlook on my part....
