Could someone help me create backup directory?

This is all the knowledge base says:

Note: The backup directory needs to be created by the store owner and given the permissions of 777 to give the webserver write permission for that folder.

But I have no clue how to do this. If someone could please help it would be greatly appreciated!

do you know how to use your host file manager program? if so, go to the admin directory and then click on create directory, then create the directory then click on file permissions and set file permissions.

else you need to use your ftp program, and do along the same lines

ok, it seems i already have a backup directory in admin.

this is the error i get:

Error: Backup directory does not exist. Please set this in configure.php.

but this is what i have in configure.php which i think is correct:

define('DIR_FS_BACKUP', DIR_FS_ADMIN . 'backup/');

Isn't that what it's supposed to say?

I have the directory made. In my "Database Backup Manager" it says this:

Backup Directory: /hsphere/local/home/cmbyrne/mtgo.byrnesccgshop.com//admin/backup/

But then at the top pf the page in pink it says:

Error: Backup directory does not exist. Please set this in configure.php.

In configure.php it says:

define('DIR_FS_BACKUP', DIR_FS_ADMIN . 'backup/');

and all permissions are set through my ftp.

why is it doing this, does anyone here know what to do?

I received the same error at the top of the page, I resolved the problem by:

1. FTP to my server

2. Made a ?new directory? or a ?new folder? in the ?admin folder?

3. Named the ?new folder? ?backups? not backup!

This worked fine for me, hope this works.
