toddking Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I had a tax problem, but then got it fixed and I thought it might be useful to others if they're having the same trouble. Problem: I want to charge tax for customers who are located in the same US state as my shop. All other customers should not have to pay tax. Resolution: Go to Admin - Locations/Taxes - Tax Zones Insert item as your state (in my case, Kentucky) - it then appears as a folder icon Click that folder to go *in* the state folder Insert item and pick country (US) and state (Kentucky) Go to Tax Classes (I only have taxable goods here, so didn't change anything) Go to Tax Rates Click New Tax Rate and specify options: Priority: 1, Tax Class: Taxable Goods, Zone: Kentucky, Tax Rate: 6% Try it for a customer in-state, then out-of-state. When I did, I still had a problem, my out-of-state customers weren't getting any payment method choices during checkout. So, I did this: Go to Modules - Payment For each payment module you have enabled, check to see that your Payment Zone is set to --none-- If Payment Zone is simply blank, edit, choose --none-- for Payment Zone, and click Update. My Payment Zones were blank, and just weren't showing up. I had to manually make sure --none-- was selected (even though I had never selected any). I hope this is useful. toddking
Guest Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 sounds like you had a glitch, as osCommerce works that way normally
