cmbyrne Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 ok, when i go to view my store while i am setting it up i get this error message at the top of the page: Warning: Installation directory exists at: /hsphere/local/home/cmbyrne/byrnesccgshop.com/catalog/install. Please remove this directory for security reasons. Do I just delete that file? And if so, if i try to do it, it gives me this error message: Error: I can not remove this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /hsphere/local/home/cmbyrne/byrnesccgshop.com//catalog/install/install.php Any useful info would be greatly appreciated!

Guest Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 file permissions can be changed a few different eays, via ftp, right click on what you want to change and then set permissions, or your host cpanel file manager, set permissions if you go via your host cpanel file manager you should be able to delete the install directory
Guest Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I hate being the noob, but how do i change file permissions?Christina <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I take it you have some FTP software in order to upload the files to your server? In my FTP software I can right click on a fild and CHMOD the file permissions. 777 is read/write/execute by EVERYBODY. Have you tried to delete the ENTIRE install folder?
