Alphabetical browse and manufactures in header

Hi,

I would like to know if I could place a set of alphabetical links (A B C D...) in the header.

 

When the link would be clicked on then the page would display all products begining with that letter? I found the code to do this here but im unsure on where to put it.

 

also...

is there anyway of moving the manufactures drop down menu to the header? I tried the "include(DIR_WS_BOXES . 'manufacturers.php');" code but that just gave me the infobox aswell.

 

Can I get the manufactures menu in the header without any box arround it?
