Help with product attributes

Hi All

I am new to Oscommerce, and I love what it has to offer.

I have had an online store for almost 12 months now, and it is going great...however...I just don not have a clue on how to use the products attributes. I want to set up products that have add ons, however as much as I have tried, i just don't get it !!

I must be stupid, however if there is ANYONE that can shed some light on this for me, I would be most grateful...
