CodeCutter Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Hello, I was testing the gift certificate functionality. So I sent a gift voucher for $5 to myself to my hotmail account. I did receive an email, but it was located in "junk" folder instead of "inbox". I don't want this to happen when I atually send gift vouchers to prospective customers. Does anyone know any workaround? (Note: I had not done "bulk" mailing, sent to just 1 email address) Thanks, CodeCutter -- Reality is an illusion caused due to lack of alcohol. -- We are never too old to learn something new.
Guest Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 hotmail has a fairly strict spam filter going on, one thing to do is check the headers of the email, to see where hotmail thinks the email is coming from. could be your host has your email going out as something other than what you have in the store admin for email.
CodeCutter Posted November 12, 2004 Author Posted November 12, 2004 Here is the header for email received. To : "Friend" <[email protected]> Subject : Gift voucher from XXX company MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: from venus.addaction.net ([64.91.227.162]) by mc4-f27.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.6824); Wed, 10 Nov 2004 13:01:42 -0800 Received: from nobody by venus.addaction.net with local (Exim 4.43)id 1CRzat-0007Nu-JUfor [email protected]; Wed, 10 Nov 2004 16:01:31 -0500 X-Message-Info: 6sSXyD95QpUj/pxE7JwrLwf4bxWoCrwb X-Mailer: osCommerce bulk mailer Message-Id: <[email protected]> X-AntiAbuse: This header was added to track abuse, please include it with any abuse report X-AntiAbuse: Primary Hostname - venus.addaction.net X-AntiAbuse: Original Domain - hotmail.com X-AntiAbuse: Originator/Caller UID/GID - [99 32119] / [47 12] X-AntiAbuse: Sender Address Domain - venus.addaction.net X-Source: X-Source-Args: /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -DSSL X-Source-Dir: organio.org:/public_html/admin Return-Path: [email protected] X-OriginalArrivalTime: 10 Nov 2004 21:01:42.0398 (UTC) FILETIME=[7ACCB9E0:01C4C768] What may be causing Hotmail to think that it is spam? Few of my observations. 1. Sent to "Friend"? Is it because of osCommerce or my host? 2. Return-Path: [email protected] This may be a problem I think. Any other ideas? 3.X-Mailer: osCommerce bulk mailer -- Is it because of "bulk" mailer? Alternately, I will be forced not to send gift vouchers to hotmail accounts. Thanks anyway. -- Reality is an illusion caused due to lack of alcohol. -- We are never too old to learn something new.
