airtap Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Is there a way to run the SQL query from a VDeck Admin Panel? I have access to PHP Admin via their database admin. The problem is that I can't seem to get to the OSCommerce database. This web host offers the OSC package and it is totally administered via the VDeck Admin Panel. Can someone advise how I can get to the db to be able to use PHP admin or is there a way to run the SQL query via VDeck? I know this probably sounds strange, and I am obviously a newbie. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks Jerry P. Quote
Guest Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 your host should have a tutorial on how to get to phpmyadmin, which is usually thru administration then databases, if my memory serves me correctly. i personally use the *nix shell to do it. once you get to the database area you can usually get to phpmyadmin. your host should have the proper path for phpmyadmin also. one thing i dont trust, is the application the host keeps on their server. never know what you are getting. if you download from the www.oscommerce.com site the software, and then ftp the app to your site. airtap Posted November 12, 2004 Author Posted November 12, 2004 Hi John, Thanks for the reply. I can get to phpMyAdmin through the VDeck (db section), but no db's are listed. I know there must be a db somewhere within the OS directory. My question is, how go I point to it once I get into phpMyAdmin. Any ideas? Thanks Jerry P. Quote
Guest Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 You can create a new db in phpMyAdmin by clicking on the button in the Right pane where it says " Create new database" . cPanel (not sure about VDeck) has a MySQL area that makes it very easy to create databases, associate users, etc. Might want to also try the support board for your webhost (assuming they have one). Someone there has certainly used that webhost's tools to set up a MySQL db before . . . -jared Quote
