Mortified-PenguiN Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 I am interested in creating an online store, with a shopping cart etc. i have never done any of this before, recently i looked on a demo of cPanel and it had a osCommerce installation i tested it out and checked it out and it looked great! however, the sort of products we would sell are very rare and collectable vinyl LPs with low stock of each record, and 100,000's of different records it would be out of the question to upload a product one at a time. I just wondered if it was possible to upload pre-made lists onto the product database to save adding 1 product at a time, with over 100,000 different ones to upload. basically, does any version of osCommerce, and if not any other E-Commerce soloution provide the sort of system needed to make it faesable to open an online store. Thank you. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Guest Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Nick, There is a contribution, called Easy Populate taht you can add to the basic osCommerce package. EP allows you to upload a tab delimited file with multiple products listed in it. ed
Mortified-PenguiN Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 Thanks for the v. quick reply! so say, if i had a list of 700 products with all the required information about the product in cells in a microsoft excel file, each product in a row, with the different categories in collumns. How would i upload this list of products? edit: does it tell all i need to know in the Easy Populate programme?
1quicksi Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 The directions are pretty well outlined and conprehensive. Best bet would be to go download it and read the usage section  knowledge base | Contributions | Search
