Customizing popup windows

I was wondering if someone could tell me how to set the size of a popup window (ie click on a small version in the shopping cart and open a new window with a bigger size file of the same picture).

I would like to be able to open windows with better resolution images and also would like to discover where I would set th eimage to be used in the popup.

Right now my popup uses the same small thumbnail that is in the catalog but I would like to be able to upload 2 different sized pictures for the customers who would like a better look at the product.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Kevin

Let me explain how I made my popups looks better if your images right now are say 80w X 100h displaying throughout the site thats cool. What you do is make your images you insert into the db like 240w X 300h what this will do is give that small image view that looks good through the site but when they click on the popup they will see a larger imageand the window will resize itsself.

Hope this helps you.

Excellent thanks very much - that works!

A couple more questions. The smaller thumbnail now looks a little bit jaggy. Is there a way to fix that?

And is it possible to set the popups to have a close window link in all of them?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Hey Kevin How big are you displaying the images on the thumbnails. 80w x 100h

57w x 87 h ? how big ? If you go 80 X 100 look s good and let me help you with something when you make all your product images do it like this. Say we are displaying images on the site itself 80 x 100 for arguement sake.

Open Fireworks or Photoshop and make a canvas size like 3 times the size of the default 80 X 100

So the canvas will be 240 w X 300 h now import your product to that canvas one at a time and center them on the canvas and make them fit with in the 240 x 300 canvas this will be your popup LARGE SIZE.

Now export the product image you just created as a gif and insert into your db.

Then just keep using the canvas over and over resizing pictures by % to fit with in the 240 x 300 canvas.

THIS WILL MAKE ALL THE PICTURES DISPLAY NICE AND PORPOTIONATLY and when you view a image that was made at 240 x 300 at (80 x 100) It should not look jagged at all the image should have good quality.

Just make sure you resize by percent so they stay porptionate. Try to get them to fit the whole canvas.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you want I have no problem trying to help its how we all get better.

Best Regards,

One problem with this is speed. When you save a 240x300 image, it is a larger file than the original 80x100. When you display product_info.php, the whole 240x300 image is downloaded to the browser, and the "width=80 height=100" attributes of the <img> tag are used to make the browser resize the image. I would suggest looking at some image contributions that allow you to save a small and large version of the image.
