You need to change to 777 for the install and then change back to 644 when the install is done.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

Hi all,

I've been getting exactly the same error as this during installation and I really don't know what I should be doing to rectify it.

The '*touch configure.php' and '*chmode 706 configure.php' sound like they may be things you do from the Unix command line? I'm a real command line novice (first time was 8 hrs ago when setting up mySQL) so I'd appreciate some advice.

Thanks in advance.

[Hi friends

I have uploaded oscommece software on the host witch is under unix , my pc`s os is ms windows 2003 when i try to install so software on the host , on the last step i get this error below ,my question is that how can i change chmode ? could any one tell me with detail ?

-----------------------------

New Installation

osCommerce Configuration

The following error has occurred:

The configuration files do not exist, or permission levels are not set.

Please perform the following actions:

cd /www/steelalborz/shop/catalog/includes/

touch configure.php

chmod 706 configure.php

cd /www/steelalborz/shop/catalog/admin/includes/

touch configure.php

chmod 706 configure.php

If chmod 706 does not work, please try chmod 777.

If you are running this installation procedure under a Microsoft Windows environment, try renaming the existing configuration file so a new file can be created.

You can chmod from your ftp client or the file manager in your hosting control panel no command line needed.
