Solution

There is a trick to use to upload images into their own folder under the images folder. There are basically 3 steps:

*Step 1* - Create folders in your catalog/images folder to match the categories on your harddrive and also on your server. Based on the demo catalog you would have folders called dvd, gt_interactive, hewlett_packard in the catalog/images folder.

*

NOTE:* Set the permissions on these additional folders to 777.

*Step 2* - Upload the images to the appropriate folder on your site. So dvd images goes in /images/dvd, gt_interactive in /images/gt_interactive a nd any subcategories desired.

*Step 3* - When images are added via the item description page (in the admin panel), select the location via the browse button. Right before the /image name/ - change the /backward slash to a forward slash (/).

Example: You have an image named movie.jpg in the hardware category: oscommercecatalogimagesdvdmovie.jpg of your computer.

The change will look like this:

//C:oscommercecatalogimagesdvd/movie.jpg

and in catalog you will see:

dvd/movie.jpg and the picture if you were successful ( remember to upload the image first ).

Subcategories would be similar so if you want to put an image (movie2.jpg) in the /good/ subcategory for example:

C:oscommercecatalogim agesdvdgoodmovie2.jpg

would be

C:oscommercecatalogimagesdvd/good/movie2.jpg

and you will see /good/movie2.jpg in the "good" folder./

When I did this I got the following replies.

**********************************************

*Warning*:

move_uploaded_file(/usr/acct/ps/www2/www.chainreaction.se/data/commerce/images/images/statues/dragons/g099.jpg.

failed to open stream: No such file or directory in

*/usr/acct/ps/www2/www.chainreaction.se/data/commerce/admin/includes/classes/upload.php*

on line *94*

**********************************************

Another try

**********************************************

*Warning*: move_uploaded_file(): Unable to move

'/var/tmp/php6eRjJ5' to

'/usr/acct/ps/www2/www.chainreaction.se/data/commerce/images/images/statues/dragons/g099.jpg.

' in

*/usr/acct/ps/www2/www.chainreaction.se/data/commerce/admin/includes/classes/upload.php*

on line *94

**********************************************

Someone told me that images is written 2 times (in code) and only should be 1 time

And that it is written 1time to many (hars translated)

Does anyone have a solv for me.. PLEASE help me out.

I read somewhere that you could fix it by simply doing something to the "admin tool" add some line or something.

So when you write in the image file and so on. That you actully can enter a new line where it actully makes you look onto the folders you have on the web and select an image you already have uploaded by FTP or some other way.

Have you change the images folder permission to "777"? I have.

I followed the instruction to do, but the image file always go to images folder even I changed the path many times. I don't thing the example "C:oscommercecatalogimagesdvd/movie.jpg" is correct. It may be "C:oscommerce\catalog\images\dvd/movie.jpg". I tried but it didn't work.

Anyone help?

First off. I know nothing about this.

Im good at basic HTML and Grafics. Thats what Im good at.

Now to my problem.

I have instealled OsCommerce. But I cant upload the images into a subfolder to IMAGES.

Please do not give me the following lin as a reply. I HAVE TRIED IT. Dosnt work.

http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/Tips_and_Tricks/188

What I would like (Dont undersntad why its not default but oki.)

1. I use some FTP program to upload all images to the site.

2. In the admin tool. When adding a new produkt. There is just a place where I can tell it that the image is actully already on the website. I just click on file and tell it. Use this Image for this product.

(3). Another way could be to add a filed. Saying.

Where do you want to Upload the image.

Please help me out.

But If Im guessing I think someone could fix this easy in less then 1 hour.

Im not into coding and so on. Maybe its more complex then It sounds.

Just hopes someone could help me out.

But I cant upload the images into a subfolder to IMAGES.

why cant u do this?

you can also create another folder deeper in the images tree and then ftp the files to the site, when adding product if the image is in a directory under images named car, ie /catalog/images/car then you would place car/image.jpg as the filename

These are topics related to your problem, I haven't heard of your problem before so I have no idea how to help you beyond this. Do a search for "upload.php" and you come up with lots of information.
