install help with secure server

I'm really hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. I want to install osCommerce on my site. I have two virtual hosts one for http (non-secure resources) and one for https (secure resources). This is the basic apache setup.

<VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost 198.148.1.104:80>

ServerName www.domain.com

DocumentRoot "/www/site/balast/html"

</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost 198.148.1.104:443>

ServerName www.domain.com

DocumentRoot "/www/site/balast/html_secure"

</VirtualHost>

Can I have the catalog and shopping cart on one virtual host (non secure http) and the checkout on the other virtual host (secure https).

If I install osCommerce in the non secure http root direectory and define the configure.phps scripts as the instructions show. The shopping cart works fine but when I try to checkout I get a 404 error on my secure server (https). This is becouse all the osCommerce files are in the non-secure virtual host root direcory.

Do I need to copy over a limited set or all of osCommerce scripts to the secure root directory. Will I encounter session or security problems doing this?

I've seen some posts regarding simlinks, but my ISP will not allow me to simlink between virtual hosts.
