mukka Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 After talking to my chosen PSP, they recommended the oscommerce to me Checked it out liked what i saw decided to download and try it out. Now im confused, i have some basic html knowledge, understand the difference between that and a script, but im no programmer. Tried to install it but have no idea what's going on and made no progress I would like to install the cart on my computer which runs on windows xp home edition, try it out, learn how to use it and develop the site, before publishing it (i will need to upgrade my hosting to accomodate cgi/php) I need help with what extras i need for the operating systems, and how to get the installation done just to get me started. im always up for a challenge but am i out of my depth
♥Vger Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Install XAMPP on your XP computer. This comes with apache, phpmyadmin, pear etc. all that you need. Install it, and then install osCommerce. When you try to access osCommerce's 'admin' control panel you'll see an error (if I remember correctly it's '$this'). This is due to an error in the new release of PHP, so just REM it out e.g. '//$this', and you're off! Vger
