Is it possible to add the whats_new box to an html page outside the catalog folder?

do I make sense?

just say i want the whats new box to be on the index.htm page of my site and my shop is in a different directory structure altogether?

is there a way to add like this? a contribution floating around?

The content of the page could be html (as it largely is with osCommerce). PHP just allows you to add dynamic content to your website. My advice is to create new php pages, with html content, and then you can 'include' most things. Just make sure that you add any new php pages to the includes/filenames.php file.
