Why can't I escape the apostrophy

hen I click 'save' to save the change (ie including the \ in cd\'s) its not making the change. The parse error remains and when I look at index.php again in still says cd's not cd\'s.

you need a \ after those 3 's

 

Also what editor are yo using to check the code? try using notepad to change it, then delete the old one off the server and ftp the modfied one.. and make sure you refresh your browser

I also would suggest not to use single and double quotes together

like in :
