I have problems with my OsCommerce-2.2 installation. When I confirm the window with ?database import?, it returned me an error message: :angry:

?Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client?.

I have an Apache server, MySQL server version 5.01 and PHP 4.3.3. What should I do? Thanks for your reply.

Hi there,

This one helped me with MySQL 4.1-gamma.

Enter this in your MySQL console:

1. use mysql;

2. UPDATE user SET password = old_password('password') WHERE user = 'user';

3. FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

Afterwards it should work.

Rias

Hi

I had the same problem last night. In the mqSQL documentation is also said to start mySQL using old passwords, something like this:-

sudo ./bin/mysqld_safe --old-passwords

I don't know if this is necessary on any/all mySQL startups, I'm using a Mac osX install with manual mySQL startup

Hope it helps
