secured website

I searched the forums for info on this without any luck so far. I have modified my store and have it live now, however it needs to be on a secured sight. I have generated the necessary keys, csr's and certs. needed in my hosts ssl manager, but am not sure what to do next other than activate my store through its admin section.

I am new at this and need some sound help to get me on the right path.

Thanks,

Bill,

I just started today too. Just looking through about 10 pages on this forum, I found discussion about configure.php file located in the Catalog/Include and admin folders. You need to set HTTP_SERVER, HTTPS_SERVER and ENABLE_SSL variables and some others. But I am struggling with it switching to http from https. Not sure where the problem is.

HTH...

Bingo!

I started out setting up my store on a stand-alone computer to "tweak" it before going live. Then made a horrible discovery that you can not just up and move it to a host. You have to keep a record of the changes you do and then swap the files after you have the basic store on your host. When I did this, I mistakenly activated the secured site option and that is how I found out about disabling it. Now I have all the criteria for a secured site via the host, but do not know if I now have the "https" prefix to my site available. I guess this will be like everthing else I have had to do so far - Hack away until something works and keep track of how you did it. I will keep you up to date and share my success (or failures) so we don't re-invent the wheel here.
