Guest
Personally I think this is the biggest flaw oscommerce has. it only makes sense to be able to minus accrding to attributes instead of just minusing according to full quantity. Basically, You have a store, you sell clothes or something that the attributes are similar.. you have 2 small red shirts 2 medium red shirts 2 large red shirts making a total of 6 shirts john doe comes and buys 3 small red shirts, the system allows him because you have 6 shirts available and it does not recognize that there are only 2 small ones left. This is very bad for business because then you have to contact john does and say look, i only have 2 small shirts left and refund the money for one small shirt or ask if they will exchange for a medium,. 9 out fo ten times john will say just cancel the order which not only makes u lose money but also makes you look unprofessional.. I really feel this issue should be addressed by oscommerce. Why have such a great product with a major flaw. I know the QTPRO exist but I am not exactly sure if it addresses the problem. Does it? Also i found one on google for $125.00 which is a bit steep to modify a free software but it seems we are left with no choice. Now my question is there a solution to this problem or is qtpro the only way out? and what exactly does the free qtpro let you do?
dblake
Look into a contribution called masterproducts or qtpro to allow you to keep track of attribute quantity. Search is a great tool. -Dennis

Guest
master slave Features: Allows any product to be a master and/or slave. A Master product can have many slaves Each Slave can be linked to more than one Master. (Many to Many/Slave to Master relationship) Choice to display slave product in catalog listing or just in product listing Product will automatically become active if all slaves are deleted. Screenies included so you can see what you are getting :) how does this minus each quantity per attribute... so basically when i have 2 small shirts out of 10 shirts and someone buys 1 of the 2 small shirts, how does it minus that 1 shirt to refelct 1 small shirt left so when a customer comes to buy 2 small shirts it does not allow them..
dblake
Concerning Master Products, you would basically have a slave product small t-shirt, connected to a master product. So in all acutallity it is its own product setup to be an attribute, sorta... Get it? Concerning QTPro, people have said this does not work so you have to buy the retail version. And as far as being "free", this is open source meaning that nothing is perfect. You can either setup master products, buy qtpro, higher a programmer, or wait for MS3. Shouldn't complain about "free" software... -Dennis
mijman2
QTPro fills the gap that OS Commerce left us without... (Not to say that you guys dont rock because you do!)... QTpro does minus stock, and have stock per attribute...

JeremyToaster
is anybody else concerned about this? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I completely have this issue also and it is very annoying. I run a record label www.megalithrecords.com www.megalithrecords.com/store is my store. Basically what you end up having to do is make a new product listing for ever size / color and sizo color combination. Which I have yet to do because it will take so damn long, and it basically defeats the purpose of having atributes on items like that. And to answer the 'don't complain because it's free' We are supposed to complain/constructive critisism, free or not, if you want someone to use your product, and you create something for mass consumption, you don't just make it how you feel like making it and say screw everyone that uses my product and it not work correctly! Then no one will use your stuff and when you do decide to make a product you feel is worth being paid for, no one will buy it.
