Hi folks,

I have got a question here I can't solve myself and my site is down now...

Yesterday evening suddenly the site gave problems not showing the main_page, new_products, footer, and column_right.

Please see: De StoffenStunter

I couldn't find anything related that I had changed. I hadn't touched any code and on none of the files the date_modified was changed. So I figured that this could not be the case. My client had only added 5 products or so and. Just to make sure I deleted those products.

This didn't solve anything.

I tried to put back an older database backup but this didn't solve anything either.

Still same problem.

So I changed the database back to the current one.

This morning I called my webhoster and they told me they had upgraded PHP from version (they think) 4.3.8 to 4.3.9. See server_info.php page

I have quite a few contributions installed and to be honest. I have no clue were to start looking.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to proceed?

Thanks,

Remko

right click + view source

most of the source in all 3 languages is just plain missing

start looking/comparing in [catalog]index.php and try a replace?

Hi Remko,

I don't know if your the upgrade to php 4.3.9 really causes the problem (allthough it seems very likely). But even if it isn't or if you are able to solve it now, we (and many others) will be in trouble again when the host decides to upgrade to php 5.x .

I tried a search for other osC shops running on PHP 4.3.9, but it is not so easy, I only could find one until now. It's www.phlare.com , and it seems to run fine.

Hi folks....after quite some email and troubleshooting, the website is moved to another server and a temp redirect is in place until the DNS updates. Seems to be working again.

Wonder what happened here???? :'(

Perhaps something else happened aswell during this upgrade??

Anyways...thanks for your help John & Panda.

Any news somewhere out there about php 5.0 and OSC.. Seems like another problem to deal with.

Maybe it wasn't the update to 4.3.9 as such, but rather a change in the php configuration that took place at the same time ?

If so, you could ask them for copies of the old and new php config files and see if you can spot anything in there

Rich.

Strange, maybe some different php setting? Anyway it's a relief to see that it's not 4.3.9 by itself causing problems with osC.

PHP 5 indeed is another topic, I just hope that my host won't hurry with upgrading ;)

Seems the former server was a FreeBSD server and the one now is a linux server. A good thing in all of this is that they told me this new server is a lot faster...

I checked..this one is running 4.3.9 aswell. Must have been something else then I guess.
