Hello,

I have been working on my WebSite for a while. Although it is far from being finished design and content wise, it is for the most part finished function wise.

I am now hoping to get some input, primarily on functions, but any and all thoughts are more than welcome.

Presently, and hopefully just temporarily, the site can only be viewed with Internet Explorer. I don't have enough knowledge yet to make it appear as it should in other browsers.

If you have the time to make a test purchase, please choose the pay by check payment option.

The ssl certificate is a temporary self issued one.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Carlos

Looks ok...

It just feels like there are too many flashing colours everywhere....hate the guy on the bike at the bottom of the page.

You have spelt chassis wrong on the top box (with only 1 s)

It functions well and you have lots of pages there etc which all keep the same design throughout, but just personal choice, i don't like stores with black backgrounds. They just don't feel professional. Not saying they have to all be white (mine isnt white) but black just doesn't do it for me.

Good luck with it anyway.

getting a runtime error on some pages

example:

http://rideablecustoms.com/index.php?cPath=1_5

line 519

error access denied

Ran script editor and in index.php

<body onload="moveTo(0,0);resizeTo(window.screen.availWidth,window.screen.availHeight)" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" topmargin="0" bottommargin="0" leftmargin="0" rightmargin="0" oncontextmenu="return false" ondragstart="return false">

If you cannot get it to give you that error scroll to the bottom and click refresh that how I started getting it.

also should the browser shift. The whole browser moves right then left quickly when entering page on all pages.

IE 6

Thank you too, for taking the time to have a look.

I don't know why it comes with the error "Access denied" after refreshing a page a few times, it has done this all along. It only happens when you refresh the same page several times. And in fact, access is not denied. Hopefully, not too many people will have a reason to refresh a page repeatedly as it doesn't serve any purpose that I can think of to do so. I noticed it while changing and updating pages. I am curious to know the reason you decided to refresh a page several times, if you'd care to share.

I've noticed this shifting on many osCommerce sites. Again, haven't a clue as to why. As it ends up displaying as it should, and it's just momentarily, I'm okay with it.

Thanks for your input.

Carlos,

The site is totally out of the expected for the product you offer - and I dont mean that in a good way.

Keep it clean, stylish and sleek. Make it indicitive of the type of bikes you put out. All the sparkly stars and clouds make me think of a horroscope site - not a custom bike shop.

Nice graphics but they totally don?t fit in this type of site, I as a user would never get beyond the first page with so many things flashing at me. If you are trying to sell items and not display graphics you need to change the colors on your site and get rid of most of the flashing items.

No offense intended

Good Luck

Thanks for your input.

Not a matter of reconsidering, I just don't know how to. As soon as I am finished my objective will be to learn how to, and to make it viewable properly in other browsers.

The reason I refreshed the page is because of how the browser bounced. I went to the bottom and refreshed to see if it was because of something(image, script) that is taking a while to load. But I do not think that is it. It is not just the page that shifts.. My whole ie6 browser with toolbars and all bounces for a second after the page loads. That actually irritated me as it did that at EACH page I went to.

I suggest you remove

onload="moveTo(0,0);resizeTo(window.screen.availWidth,window.screen.availHeight)"

no use for it unless you want to annoy some customers that do not want your page to cover their entire monitor. That is what is causing my browser to skip as I already had it at full screen.

Also YES either remove stars or reduce. And the repeated logo at the bottom to. No need for that, very cluttering.

Thanks again for the input. And, I understand now. I should have realized what you meant when you showed the onload info.

I am going after a very specific demographic/customer, which is not to say that I am correct in my thinking, nor to say that I haven't re-thought my thinking, only to say that I'm not getting the same type of design feedback from potential customers of the demographic I am going after.

I really appreciate all the input, all the time extended.

Actually it's not to my tastes but i'm not a biker. That being said, it does have the look that would probably appeal to one of them. Reminds me of Gretchen Wilson's song where she 'ain't a high-class broad'. She ain't, but she's hot & a biker and i think she'd like your graphics.

I looked at it in ie6 and mozilla173. Even though it's way off in mozilla, i'd still get rid of the javascript blocking the site from mozilla users. if they're using mozilla, it's crazy to think they'll download a much inferior browser.

Thanks for the input Pete, and for taking the time to view it in Mozilla.

I don't think for a minute that anyone's going to download IE; it's just sort of a way of completing the browser statement. By the way, I agree whole-heartedly with IE being inferior.

I've come to the conclusion that most of my potential customers will be using IE. And those that don?t will likely have it already, to use should they want to. It's just the way it is at the moment, and likely will remain that way at least long enough to give me time enough to learn enough - to be able to make it mozilla/firefox (maybe others as well) friendly. I know that I have to, as I know that IE's dominance is continually decreasing.

As for removing the browser script, makes me uncomfortable to have it viewed so out of whack, except of course by anyone who knows how to regardless. Not that it's so difficult, just that most of my potential customers will be there because they will be wanting to see what RideableCustoms.com is about, not as web design/function specialists. Not to say that bikers don't know computers, just to say that generally computers aren't a biker's first interest/love.

Black, orange, red, & yellow colors, along with flame and skull like graphics, are part of the Biker world, which is whom I am trying to attract. I am also trying to make it Biker Family Friendly (Kids), so I don't want it hard core Biker.

I really appreciate that you got that I'm not so much looking for design input, though I am appreciative of all input - as I am looking for functions not working/corrections, errors, miss-spells, browser behavior, etc. type input - and, I have gotten some of this type that has been helpful. I have also taken some of the design input (I removed most of the blinking stars, though not all).

No one has had the time, or maybe the inclination, to make a test purchase - a little disappointing to me, as I would really like to get some input/feedback in this area. I have changed quite a bit the way the checkout process goes. I don't like the idea of putting any emphasis on making an account, so I have tried to avoid it as much as possible.

All in all, I feel quite fortunate to be able to receive all the input that I have. I am also grateful for all of it.

Anyways, taste wise, to each her/his own, eh!

Thanks again,

Carlos

Hey Carlos,

Just a couple of quick comments from a long time fellow biker. ;)

I would change the animated black & star background to one with static (non-flashing) stars.

Product navigation and ordering is too difficult.

Categories > Bike Parts > Custom Chrome

Then I'm directed to an instruction screen.

Then click on text link - Custom Chrome Online Catalog.

I left your site as another browser popped up?

"Locate an Authorized Dealer" on the top of the page and I found a few within a short distance of my home. Why would I go back to your shop to email you for a price? You should incorporate all the products & prices into your site and offer a shopping cart.

Just my 2 cents worth Bro ^_^

Hi jhande!

Thanks for taking the time to have a look. And thanks for the input. Even after all this time there's still more to be done. It's never ending!
