Adding a new header?

I'm not sure what file I need to edit to make a new header for my site? Here is the table code that I have, do you know where I need to add it. I want to take out the whole header on my site and replace it with my new one.

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%">

<tr>

<td width="100%"><div align="left"><table border="0"

cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%">

<tr>

<td width="30%"><a

href="http://dvdcabin.com/images/dvdcabin.gif"><img

src="DVD%20Cabin_files/dvdcabin.gif"

alt="DVD Cabin" border="0" width="204"

height="50"></a></td>

<td width="70%"><div align="left"><table

border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0"

width="100%">

<tr>

<td width="25%"><p align="center"><a

href="http://www.dvdcabin.com/account.php"><img

src="images/header_account.gif"

alt="My Account" border="0" width="103"

height="20"></a></p>

</td>

<td width="25%"><p align="center"><img

src="images/contactus.gif" width="103"

height="20"></p>

</td>

<td width="25%"><p align="center"><a

href="http://www.dvdcabin.com/advanced_search.php"><img

src="images/search.gif" alt="Search"

border="0" width="103" height="20"></a></p>

</td>

<td width="25%"><p align="center"><a

href="http://www.dvdcabin.com/checkout_shipping.php"><img

src="images/header_checkout.gif"

alt="Checkout" border="0" width="103"

height="20"></a></p>

</td>

</tr>

</table>

The header is controlled by the includes/header.php file (funny how those names are the same ;) ). You can change the code there but if you use the code you have, there will be a problem. You need to change your links to use the tep_href_link function (search your code for examples) otherwise you will lose your session ID's.

As I mentioned, it is used throughout your shop. But here is an example

<td><?php echo '<a href="' . tep_href_link('Some_File', '', 'NONSSL') . '">' .  '<img border="0" src="images/some_image.jpg" title="some text" alt="Some Text" width="154" height="122"> ' . '</a>'; ?></td>

I've been play around with the tep_href_link but can't seem to make a link? I mean, it's not like html. Can someone show me for a example how I would make this into a link. www.yahoo.com

If you're making a link to Yahoo, then you odn't need to retain the SID. If you are making a link to within the cart, then you do need to retain the session.

A link to within the cart would look like this....

<?php echo '<a href="' . tep_href_link('/catalog/your_link.php', '', 'NONSSL') . '">Your Link</a>'; ?>

I made the link below, but it doesn't turn my account gif image into a clickabal link. I'm I missing something? I took the code dirctly off the header file and just added it to my new header.

<a href="<?php echo tep_href_link(FILENAME_ACCOUNT, '', 'SSL'); ?>" class="headerNavigation"><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_MY_ACCOUNT; ?></a><img src="images/header_account.gif" alt="My Account" border="0" width="103" height="20"></a>
