When i go to Tools - Database Backup in admin panel it looks like this only.

Database Backup Manager

Directory: /customers/domain.se/domain.se/httpd.www/catalog/admin/backups/

No buttons or menus here where i am given options to do anything.

i have a error message in pink on top of the page here displaying-

Error: Backup directory does not exist. Please set this in configure.php.

Not sure i understand what to do here.

Or shall i just copy all from webserver via my ftp software to my hard drive everytime i want to take backup?

It will probably be a new day tomorrow.

This can be caused by a couple of things the first being that you do not have the backup directory or it does not have the correct permissions like the above poster said. If that is the case you have an easy fix, if they are there and the permissions are correct you may have a path problem in your admin config file that you need to fix.

Also the backup backs up the database not your files. You still should keep a complete backup of your site on your local computer at all times.

Thanx for the help guys.

I did simply create the directory, and voila, there the options came.

I tried and it worked. So now as far as i can see, the only thing that still doesnt work is the currency update that still gives me errormessages.

It will probably be a new day tomorrow.

Yeah, I went through the same thing today. I created the directory, but don't know anything about chmod 777. Is it necessary to do this "chmod 777" thing? What's it good for? Is it ABSOLUTELY necessary?

The chmod thingy is to set the correct priviliges (attributes) on a folder or file,

777 means it has read write and execute permisions, if you for example dont give it write permisions you wont be able to write the backup file.

You can change it with your FTP client, usually rightclick and chose chmod/attrib. and set the permision there.

It will probably be a new day tomorrow.
