Anchor text for link exchange

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Well no one seemed to find this under the Links thread. So much for trying to not clog up the board.

I have 2 questions regarding Links.

How do I set up Anchor text for the links. Right now it just shows the url and the description. I also would like to know how to remove the image url box.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Use something like this:

<td>
           <?php echo '<a title="Some Title" href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_SOME_PAGE, '', 'NONSSL') . '">' . "Some Text" . '</a>'; ?>
</td>

Is there not a way to just do it in admin? It has the box for page title people fill out when submitting links. It just does not show up after they fill it out. You only see the link and description. I thought maybe by changing the #s in admin (not sure if that is just for sort order or something- I could not find the definitiob=ns for the #'s anywhere) or maybe behind the scenes in the code you could put title on true or something. I could not figure out how to do it. I have barely learned the basics of os. I would not know which links page to put the text on or where on the page.

It seems we are talking about two different things here. I thought you just wanted to add a regular link. But it sounds like now you are talking about the links manager contribution (or something similar). Is that the case? If not, I will need more of an explanation.

Hi Jack,

Yes In Links Manager. Guess you didn't see that in the title. I have it installed, but all that shows up is the link www.abc.com and the description. On the form they fill in the website title, but it does not show up. In order for the link exchange to be beneficial for others it needs the anchor text.

Here's what I use on my site: Open includes/modules/link_listing.php and find this code

 switch ($column_list[$col]) {
         case 'LINK_LIST_TITLE':
           $lc_align = '';
           $lc_text = $listing['links_title'];

and change it to

  switch ($column_list[$col]) {
         case 'LINK_LIST_TITLE':
           $lc_align = '';
           $lc_text = '<a href="' . tep_get_links_url($listing['links_id']) . '" title="'.$listing['links_title'].'" target="_blank">' . $listing['links_title'] . '</a>';

You have to display titles for this to work. But if not, you should be able to figure it out from here.

Hi Jack,

Well I figured a few more things out and the code worked fine.

Which brings me to a new quesion for anyone willing to share their knowledge.

In Links Manager the links look like cr#@&) at present. They are side by side. Description title url.

I would like to be able to manipulate the code so its stacked

Title

url

description

Also does anyone know if there is any issue with PR having 2 links to the site because of the title and url being acive?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone I added the code

switch ($column_list[$col]) {

case 'LINK_LIST_TITLE':

$lc_align = '';

$lc_text = '<a href="' . tep_get_links_url($listing['links_id']) . '" title="'.$listing['links_title'].'" target="_blank">' .

$listing['links_title'] . '</a>';

Which got close to what I wanted but the problem now is that when I click on the anchor text is goes back to my home page instead of the outbound link home page. Im confused as to why thanks for any help I would greatly appreciate it. Mike
