How do you make your images secure?

Recommended Posts

I have set my server up with SSL which works fine within firefox (with the icon at the bottom of the page to say it's using SSL) but although the page is using encryption I do not get the golden padlock in Internet Explorer. I have been told that this is due to the fact that some of the images are not secure. My header logo points to a https but the photo's for products and some page icons do not.

I managed to get all of my product photo's encripted by hacking includes/configure.php define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', 'images/'); to define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', 'https://custom-design.co.uk/catalog/images/'); but I still had the odd page icon using http and to top it off although my product photo's were secure, Big Size Image plugin which I use to enlarge my images stopped working.

How does everyone else secure all images on the secure pages?

The way you hacked will cuase you a problem because if someone clicks on an image, they will lose the session ID. When someone told you the images were not secured, they meant you were calling them with http on an https page. You just need to use the standard tep_href_link call to do what you need. The images themselves do not need to be changed.
