osCom to XHTML

Can anybody help me? i need to install the osCom to XHTML mod, but i don't know what to do with the .tar file as there are no instructions with the contribution.

I am just wondering, what are the benefits of changing a site to XHTML.

if you want to convert, then download the windows version of osCommerce (only differs because is in zip format instead of tar format) and you can start from there. lots of work ahead of you. perhaps in a year or so you may have it halfway running.
