Zone Rates Shipping Table

Hi,

 

Is there a way to setup the zone rates table so it can use provinces and states also, besides the country codes?

 

Shipping prices are quite different depending on the distance from my province to the province and state they are going to, and I don't want to use just a general amount for Canada, US and International countries because some customers are getting undercharged for shipping while others overcharged.

This is a tough one. I had the same problem with my delivery company as they charge based on postal code rather than province.

 

What I did is develop a table rate method that makes more accurate use of the province shipping module that is available in the contributions : take an average of the shipping cost per province and state.

 

Have you solved the problem since or are you still looking for a solution ?

Have you looked at the "State Based Rates" Contribution? I just was looking at it (in the Shipping Modules category) and I'm wondering if this would solve my problem too. I need to set up Zone Based shipping rates within the United States but I haven't been able to figure out how to get the individual states as thier own Zone. I'd be interested to know if anyone has used this Contrib or what you did to resolve your problem.

I use Region-based rates on my Cheap cigarettes site. Try creating order there and you'll see it in action.

I use this contribution to limit number of countries to ship too, but it easily allows using states instead/with the countries.
