ASDCO Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 My site has been up for awhile now and I feel comfortable changing code in my files.I need some constructive criticism on the site both visual and grammatical. The site is located at; www.asdcompany.com thank you for looking.
tdupres Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Hi Ok, first things first... The front page of your site is graphically nice. When you click on the "visit our online store link" its like being taken to a completely different site. Why not try to get the graphical elements from you front page into your store front. This will help with continuity. The colours from the front page are 0099CC (blue) and 33CC99 (green). Try to use these colours only. This will help with continuity. As for logos, buttons and other images can be found in catalog/images. Simply open the image you wish to change and either create a new replacement and name it the same as the origanal or draw streight over the origanal. Save these to your hard drive and upload them to your sever when ready. If you give them the same file name, oscommerce will simply use the new files. The info boxes have the wrong coloured corners. These are gif files and can be found in catalog/image/infoboxes. Loose the bold type on the main page. Try and limit the amount of text. People will just not read it. Possibly add it in the product descriptions. People want to see images on entrance to your shop. Maybe use bullet points and shorten the info into single lines. ?100% Lycra ?All products are double stitched ?All sizes catered for Then add in your conversion chart. The customer focused stuff is nice but you could just add a line in after the product details. The main thing is to create the connection from your front page to your storefront. When you do that its just tweeking from there on in. Hope that helps.
burt Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Your store looks visually unappealing. Why do you not use your front page as the basis for your store, by carrying the design over. You could remove all the right hand side infoboxes. Have the left hand infoboxes "see-thru" so that buyers could see the two guys shaking hands underneath. The grey bar which says "serving the world" would make a great place for the breadcrumb. The blue bit where it say "email" and "BIKINIS, ONE-PIECE SWIMWEAR, EAR-RINGS, BRACELETS, SARONGS AND OTHER WONDERFUL THINGS FOR WOMEN" is where the main content would go. It would look great. At the moment it looks bad, and I wouldn;t buy from you.
Guest Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 And i dont think it is a good idea to take the osCommerce logo and adding your name to it! The_Bear
