julianpuje Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 My store has been live now for 2 months. It's doing well on the search engines, top of most for what we sell, which is excellent! we are paying for it at the moment though on the pay per click. BUT, big BUT. I know it's early days yet, but we had @ 4500 visitors last month, and now have a tidy sum of only 20 registered customers. Not making many sales???? We know the prices are very competitive and shipping etc is excellent. We accept all cards through Worldpay, but still only a handfull of sales. Why, Why oh Why!!!!. Please take a look and see if you think it's the site. I've made quite a few change to the stock OsComm, and am in need of good and bad feedback. Please please help!!!!!!!!! TIA Julian A little knowledge is dangerous, I SHOULD KNOW. If Life Begins At 40, What ends????
♥yesudo Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 take the counter off your store. it takes time - word of mouth willl help. 2 mths is not long. Your online success is Paramount.
ryanf Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 your site didn't load for me. If I was crafty, this would be a funny signature.
julianpuje Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 please try again, just changed my server package. Cheers A little knowledge is dangerous, I SHOULD KNOW. If Life Begins At 40, What ends????
julianpuje Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 I've removed the counter, this has only been on @ 3 weeks. The website has actually been on for 5 months. The last 2 months have been a push on the advertising side, and equated to @ 17000 hits (cpanel report) in the last 4 weeks. Still only 20 customers though. Hence the need to see if it's the site or not. Please check it out. Julian A little knowledge is dangerous, I SHOULD KNOW. If Life Begins At 40, What ends????

TIA Julian you might want to look into having it professionally designed. i personally wouldn't shop on your site just from looking at it.
rathcroghan Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Too LOUD Tone down the loud colours the red nose gifs and the other jokey elements. The site looks like it was done by kids and although a lot of the product is aimed a kids (eventually) make the site look a bit more boring "corporate".
julianpuje Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 you might want to look into having it professionally designed. i personally wouldn't shop on your site just from looking at it. I am a Newbie to this, and this is my first site, what don't you like. The colours? the boxes? the buttons? The logo? 95% of the features are standard Oscomm, with a few tweaks. So the general functions haven't changed. I don't fancy paying someone to do what i can, hence using the forum for advice. Not liking everything is not very helpful, what would you change?? I have to agree with rathcroghan that it is a bit LOUD. cheers Julian The site isn't working properly today either, problems with the server. A little knowledge is dangerous, I SHOULD KNOW. ♥yesudo Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 If the general concensus is the same as the comments - then u really need to change your design b4 outlaying any further funds on advertising. Your online success is Paramount.
burt Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 The design you originally purchased was different to most osC stores and quite good-looking (in my opinion) - all your changes have made it quite ugly...
julianpuje Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 OK, cheers I'll look more at the original, maybe gone a bit too far now and lost the plot a bit. A little knowledge is dangerous, I SHOULD KNOW. If Life Begins At 40, What ends????
Guest Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Also another spanner in the works is that it doesnt layout 100% in mozilla or firefox havnt tried opera but a small % of people will jump as there is image errors on site. Do you have a popup active on the front page? I was unable to browse it using IE as I have popup blockers in IE active so a few people may be lost here also, as it just seems to hang using IE, for me anyrd.
julianpuje Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 I've had a lot of problems with the server today, it has only been back on for about 5 mins, it may have been faulty when you were on. I know it's OK now, so please check it again. There are no pop ups on the front page. Thanks A little knowledge is dangerous, I SHOULD KNOW. If Life Begins At 40, What ends????
