Guest Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 hello there, i was hoping to do something similar for my site.... i've heard that this is possible ie,. using flash to set different options, but dont know how.... ... just to explain a bit,... i want to replace an option field with a bit of flash for choosing the options.... hhmmm...
mondi Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 hmm... Yes it is possible. But not in any sort of step 1,2,3 sort of explanation. For that matter, almost anything is possible if you have the time, skill or money. BUT... It would be totally foreign to internet shoppers. They are not used to it. I would suggest that you show all the pictures for your different options and then have a selection drop down list so they can pick one. This is what shoppers are used to and in my opinion would serve you better. For example, had I not had some idea of what to expect at your site by reading your post. I would have had no idea that clicking on that image would give me different options... Now, for the how to do what I suggested. And.. considering you have done a good job of modding osc you can do this no sweat. The mo_pics mod will take care of extra pictures for you. Look for an 'attribute' mod in the contributions section. There may even be one that does pictures so you don't have to use mopics. just my 2 cents mondi
beltaine Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 What's been mentioned regarding the usability and typical customer habits is true. I have a color selector I made in Flash for my sales on Ebay. I've found after about a year, that it tend to confuse more than it clarifies. You can preview the previewer here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=4170499762 After about 40 mistakes and misinterpretations by customers who thought the background color was part of the product, those that didn't understand how to use a tri-chore color combination to produce a particular shade and the complaint by Ebay due to supposedly offering more than one product per auction... I stopped using it. However, it's all in how you put it to use, where and what products you sell. I still believe it's a good idea, I just need to present it in a more "made-for-morons" fashion. :D
